The hilarious TV show getting me through a (very) hard time: St. Denis Medical
Whoo boy, life has been a lot lately. Lice, anyone?
First the cat nibbled on a lily in my Mother’s Day bouquet and had to be rushed to the emergency vet after vomiting all over the house — the day before my daughter’s 12th birthday slumber party. (Newsflash: Lilies are toxic to cats. He’s OK now…but our bank balance is not.)
Then the child kept complaining about an itchy scalp, and you know what, now that you mention it, I’m a little itchy too and oh shit there are BUGS in our HAIR and omg omg omg. (Newsflash: Middle schoolers can and do get lice.)
And then, Trump went full-on racist with that stupid South Africa refugee thing and my attempts to ignore all things political fell apart, along with my soul. (Newsflash: WTF is even happening anymore?)
Anyhoo, it’s been a week y’all, and those have been the EASY things going on in my life right now (!). Fortunately, a wonderful little unknown-to-me TV show set in an underfunded Oregon hospital has been providing very needed levity right now, the kind of show making me wonder why everyone isn’t obsessed with it, too:
St. Denis Medical is The Office meets ER meets Reno 911. It stars one of my favorite Reno actresses/comedians, Wendi McClendon Covey. (I still frequently think about her scene inspiring the teenage devil worshippers).
If you too need the wholesome distraction, I can’t recommend it enough.
I spent my Mother's Day in the emergency vet hospital with my cat too! Not quite how I wanted to celebrate! 🫤 Thanks for the req of this show, I had heard about it and thought the promos were funny, now I'll give it a try.
Wow! You've had quite the month. A little levity is always welcome--if only to keep us from crying. Hope the crises are now over and out.
