Booze is way more than a carcinogen. My alcohol warning label includes suicide, violence, car accidents, unplanned pregnancies, and the many health risks like liver failure and even gum disease.
You've tackled a tough one, Joy, but the label looks great, so you should be proud. I think alcohol addiction is considered normal and no one wants to hear that imbibing from time to time is going to lead to any darker consequences. I don't drink (except rarely, a beer at dinner) and have never been a drinker, so this is where I'm coming from, so you don't think I'm talking about me. Hahaha. But yeah, folks just don't want to know, kind of like cigarettes.
Alcohol contributed to my dad’s terminal cancer. He had such regret, and I didn't add to his guilt with my thoughts because the damage was done. It gutted me.
There is nothing good about alcohol; I wish this would be more of a discussion.
I think AA is good for a lot of people. I know several people who've found information, help, and behavioral intervention through AA. I've never been because I'm not on board with the higher power stuff,. But the meetings seem to help those who've recognized your thesis for themselves. Me, I had to get AFib to quit--kinda far down the addiction line.
I’m glad you stopped! I don’t think you had withdrawal symptoms, right? I know more than I ever wanted to know about end-stage alcoholism, including what a fib looks like on a continuous EKG while a person is intubated and detoxing in an ICU.
Yes. Alcohol gets special dispensation thanks to its ubiquity. Never was there a more committed special interest advocacy group than drinkers, despite the research.
I'm not up on all the organizations warning about the effects of alcohol. But surely MADD would be interested in your alcohol ad. I remember a time when there were government agencies with similar objectives.
I agree there are issues with that, too. And, how nearly all of us sit and work at computers all day, and have little free time for movement and fresh air. Decades later, I still mourn the shift from college (so active!) to first job (long hours in front of a screen editing articles, blahhhh).
What a GREAT label! This is beautiful!

Agree, and I’m so sorry.

I've noticed how much more hard alcohol all characters on shows are drinking these days. Where did this trend come from?
Paid product placement is part of it. I totally agree that it’s pervasive in streaming entertainment these days.

Yes, though I’m not crazy about some of their partnerships and objectives - it’s kind of like they’re afraid to piss off big alcohol.
Probably the biggest stumbling block of all. Sigh.
